| Shahida Akram Partnership Development Manager I have worked in community development and regeneration for the past three years working with community groups at grass roots level in order to build their capacity and develop their work. I have been involved in interfaith activity in a voluntary capacity for a year, organising events, dialogues and open discussions. In my paid capacity I have worked at Building Bridges in Burnley to try and engage young people in interfaith development. The opportunity to work at the Lancashire Forum of Faiths arose in March 2007 and I am now employed as their Partnership Development Manager. My main role at the Forum is to develop partnerships between the statutory and the faith sectors as well as building the capacity of local interfaith forums across Lancashire. I feel that this work is important to raise the profile of the valuable input of the faith communities to the sub-region. Owing to funding constraints, Shahida left at the end of June 2008 and gave birth to her son. She is still in contact with LFoF.

Carlo Schroeder Partnership Development Co-ordinator
My background is Peace and Religious Studies. I received my MA in Conflict Resolution in 2005 from the University of Lancaster. I have been involved in interfaith dialogue on a voluntary as well as professional basis over the last couple of years. I believe strongly that religion can be a positive social force; instrumental to the well-being of society. This is one of the reasons why wanted to work in interfaith and why I enjoy the work I do.
